Launch of the new optical disc Acuity printing system

     

Tsekmeres SA in Greece held a two day open house recently to promote the new optical disc application package for the Acuity digital printer.
Over the two days the open house was well attended, attracting visitors from more than twenty companies.
It was universally agreed that the system is well thought out and easy to use.

tsekmeres‘With most of the disc manufactures in Greece supplying the local market,
the short run capability of this system makes it an excellent addition to the
already versatile Acuity platform’ said Danny Tsekmeres.  ‘While the main
interest has been from duplicators, one of our largest optical disc
replicators believes the system is ideal for him. They recently had to print
a four hundred disc order with forty permutations.
The order was completed but used the capacity of one offset press for two weeks. The complete
order of 16,800 discs could have been printed on the Acuity in just over one day’s full production
with no scrap discs.  The owner of the company now believes that the only way to drive his costs
down significantly is to use a digital solution for all of his short run work.’
     
disc packagingA major advantage for many duplicators is that the Acuity can also print onto disc packaging. This is something new for customers and is likely to increase their
profitability as this capability will provide them with opportunities that were not
previously possible.
The Acuity Optical Disc system will be officially launched on
1st November 2008 and is expected to make a significant impact in alloptical disc markets.

The Acuity is capable of producing close to 500 discs per hour with a quality that is close to offset. With none of the traditional setup costs associated with offset or screen, the system gives manufactures the ability to drive down costs for all short run work.
