Optical Media - Inkjet

The CDs and DVDs consumers buy are a package of discs and paper parts.  The components are usually printed by different methods, often by different suppliers.  It’s a challenge to ensure that colours are reproduced faithfully on the various media and that they are consistent with the proof.

ISO   P3

The answer is, process-independent colour management.  At FUJIFILM Sericol, we call it P3 and we offer it as part of our service to disc manufacturers, replicators and duplicators.

P3 Process Independent Colour Management
Our expertise comes from years of experience with many print technologies.  We work with you to standardise your proofing system, helping to ensure conformance to the ISO standard.  We then help to optimise each print technology so that you achieve good commercial matches to your proof, irrespective of the print process employed.

P3 'three-step' process

It's a clever but simple, three-step, colour mapping process. First, we adjust the ink deposit to make sure you print the right colour and density. Then we optimise dot reproduction. The final step is colour profiling to achieve the correct Lab values.

These colour management techniques allow disc producers to standardise the colour and appearance of a disc, whether the print method is screen, offset or digital. The goal is to achieve commercially acceptable print on every component in the optical disc package, every time.

P3 Advantages
FUJIFILM Sericol's P3 Process Independent Colour Management system offers a number of key advantages:
